hi all, my 1993 disco 200tdi fuel gauge doesnt work, it wasnt working when i bought it but is very annoying. basically just sits at the bottom of gauge with light on constantly.
any ideas? ive done a search but theres nothing disco specific i found.

cheers

Round cover in boot floor (gasp at all the rust you find!!) Under the cover is the sender unit, it's different from the 300tdi one but maybe you can repair it if it's a wire off which happens with the 300. Failing that they are about 50 - 60 quid I think for a new 'un.

just put a new floor in so theres no rust :)
all wires are in good nick, the spade connector i took off put a new spade on and cleaned the bit up but still not working so looks like a new unit is required :(

Did you put a power source to the connecters? gauge should then read full and you know it's the sender at fault.

nah i presumed the single spade connector was the earth and tested it had ohms to an actual earth which it did so thought it must be inside it thats goosed.

fact that the lights on and the guage reads empty, suggests the floats at the bottom.
remove sender unit and check float operastion, diesel low light should go out if nowt else.
if light hadnt been on would say broken wire as everyone else sez.
