Hi All

Freelander 2 (2011) l filled the tank to half way before a trip, half way there, furl light came on, fuel gauge was on empty and mileage range dropping fast to zero. No signs of a leak and was able to complete my two hour journey without issues.

I’m going to get someone to look at it, but could really do with some pointers as to what it could be…

Probably electrical as above, but possibly the transfer pump inside the tank.
It pumps fuel from one side of the tank ‘over the hump’ in the middle to the other side.
If it’s faulty, you have no fuel pumping from the higher side to the lower side.

Hi again.. new development this morning!

Message on dash saying “reduced engine performance”

Booked into garage next week but any ideas before l go, want to at least look like l know what I’m thinking it might be…

Reduced engine performance is a ‘limp mode’. It could be any number of things - you really need a code reader to establish what might be causing it.

I suspect the ECM is in limp mode because it doesn't see there is fuel in the tank. This is done to protect the high pressure pump.
The issue is likely to be in the tank pump/sender assembly, which are known to give issues.
