Hi

I am considering the fitting of a standard 50mm ball hitch to the nearside of my front bumper to enable manoeuvring of trailers etc, before doing so are there any laws I would fall foul of in terms of items protruding from bumper or similar ?. Does the bumper have to be the furthest forward point in case of impact ?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of. As long as it isn't sharp or pointy you should be okay.
Make sure you mount it as close as possible to the bumper mount.

Wont that be too high to hitch the trailer up, will the back end dig in the ground?

had a removeable one on mi disco when i bought it..

now flogged on ebay but the buyer was on ere i think...

box section tubing welded to a thick plate the some huge "u" bolts attached it to front X member behind front bumper..

another box section with the tow ball on it slid into the bos section attached to x member and held with a big pin and r clip...

worked ok for recovery, got in way a bit off road.. but was removeable...

Have had a front towball on every Landy I've owned.

For strength I have always mounted it as near as possible to the nearside chassis leg.

That way you can see past the trailer for precise manouvreability.

I often have to put a trailer into a container with 2" each side to spare ... No problems at all!
