I don't know if the radius arm bushes are knackered or not. The only thing is that use of a three foot bar on them MAY make them appear worse than they are that is all.

There not all crooks, I always go to the same place they are 4x4 for starters and we know we're we stand with each other for instance, if he says I got a corroded brake pipe I would say show ,but iv no need as if anything is untoward then he knows I'm going away to fix it , if people are worried and not too sure about there cars then I suggest going to an mot only bay that don't do repairs. Or know or suggest of people to fix it as then there is no gain is there !!!

No, thats really the problem what's the alternative, they say because it moves with the aid of a big bar the rubber must be seperated from the metal sleeve. The implication being that the bonding is a critical part and so it fails. However without taking it out its not obviously faulty, the bush is barely visible.
My view is that it doesn't touch the plates and the axle isn't loose on the mounts so it's fine. It may not be central just because the panhard link pulls/pushes the axle to one side at particular heights so the radius arm will only align perfectly in a particular geometry.
I have to replace them because without taking it apart it's just my opinion against an experienced mot'er.
When I get the bits, I'll pull it off and let you know.

No they are not, but i am sure your confidence will be of great solace to the thousands who spend millions every year having work do that is not needed. An MOT certificate is a very large bar that can be used to pry money out of unsuspecting hands unfortunately. Surely you must gather from this forum that there are people who can be told anything and believe it. Things like don't over pack your U/Js with grease or it makes the rollers tight for instance.

That's right if you keep pumping it in and its not squirting the old grease out all your doing is building up undue pressure and if any thing will cause an over heat ...,
If you keep pumping it in and the old grease doesn't come out sometimes a new nipple will sort it if it doesn't, change the U/J. Simple as that. Where do you get your mechanical tips from the bloody Beano?

The. You should know its not always the nipple is it what about the dried up old hard grease inside !!

The more reason to change the U/J then. If you can't get grease through, that should be telling you there is a problem.
Why what does it do when you go round corners besides flex a little that it does not do when you are driving straight ahead?

Didnt explain my self properly as usual they help keep the axels in place so what I was trying to explain is that when you move just because the Radius arm sits there it doesn't mean it's any good if f the rubbers are worn the axels will move , oh Am sorry been too busy fixing someone car so they can go on the chippy run to keep having to help your arguments to how long a bar should be

Yes point taken but they would have to be very well fubared to cause any discernible axle movement. Specially the twin front ones.
so what we are saying is this, no matter what bushes you fit, as long as the bar is under 12" and you dont have Garth as a tester, we should have no problems
Providing the bushes are anywhere near sound no.
