On the Disco (from Rave) it states that (front prop) sliding end should go to T-box.

I can say it seems sensible to me, 'cos when my UJ's went on the M62 and the prop fell apart, the tube bit fell down and was dragged along the carriageway ... if it had been attached to the transfer box end it's possible it would have dug in and we'd have flipped, or at least had a ****-load more damage!
that does depend n which uj goes

funnily enough it doesnt in my manual ,which is of the time

It would apear to depend on the age and vehicle type then.

Series from 1958 to 1985
Defender from 1983 to 1995

manuals both say the same. i.e. slidy bit nearest the front of the vehicle!

Defender 1999 to 2005 slidy bit to Transfer box ;)

So would it be true to assume that Defender 1996 - 1998 don't have props? :D
