after having a look through the site found out some info on running just on rear prop due to removal of front prop as uj goosed ! i removed it put landy in diff lock high and nothing just the coupling for the front prop spinning no drive to rear ? Any ideas what problem could be ? thanks

your not in difflock ,either linkage to loose or not adjusted right or switch wound in too far jamming diff lock selector

cheers for the quick response mate! how can i go about sorting this ? are there any instructions on the forum that you know of ? cheers

What jamesmartin said.

Definitely not in diff lock.

Get under the disco and look at the transfer box, on top of the TF box just above the front prop output is the diff lock selector.

Get somebody to sit in the car and move the lever while your underneath. You will be able to see if the selector is actually moving.

See what happens and let me know what you see....I can guide you once you tell me what's happening.

if you look underneathe on top of front output housing on transfer box ,where the vertical diff lock linkage is secured to t/box turn with 13mm spanner clockwise as looking down on it that will put it into diff lock ,later you will need to remove consol ,gaiter etc to get to the top of gear box and sort lever from there

will have look in daylight and post back thanks for your help jock! new ujs are at the post office to pick up hopefully not too much of a f**k on to change !

also should there be any play left to right on transfer end and diff end ? as before taking off the prop it had play is this normal or is there something else i should be looking at before refitting front prop ! cheers in advance

I would check the UJ's for any play and give them a good greasing while the prop is off.
I would check there is no play in the prop shaft on the splines and give the slider some action with the grease gun.

Other than that....put the prop back on.

I mean rotational slack ! When I removed the slider came out of the shaft and now I don't know where it slides in ! Will this mean it will also need rebalanced ? Cheers

New prop definitely needed where the uj cups slide into one side is egg shaped from
It wearing down on the bolts so it's goosed !

THeres plenty of discos in the scrap yards ....more so as the bodies give up or insurance company hyenas refuse to have them fixed
