Disco is leaking fluid from the near side swivel, quite a significant amount and even when parked on a negative camber when would normally expect fluid to run towards the opposite side of the axle.
I fitted all new seals for the stub axle and swivel a while back and refilled with one shot grease, however I'm pretty sure have been losing diff oil for some time now - any suggestions as to what to check first? Thanks again :)

seal in chrome ball often leak you get oil in swivels and grease in diff oil, allways worth checvking axle breather

Ok thanks, from what I remember there is a large rubber seal the size of the swivel I guess that's the one I should look at replacing? After checking the axle breather of course..

The swivel was quite heavily pitted due to areas of corrosion, so i gave it a light grit blast and recoated it, this is going back a couple of years mind

Yes that's the problem oil is dripping on to the wheel, shall order a new large seal then. Thanks :)

Best to order both, as James has said ...

you're getting oil dripping on to the wheel...

yet you'd put one shot in the swivel ...

so the diff oil is getting past the inner seal ...

I see makes sense, bit annoying though as I have already replaced all the seals on each corner of the disco, although I suppose I'm going back 3 years now

Was thinking the same but suppose losing a bit of one shot is less of a concern than the risk of letting the front diff run dry, this has happened once already and looks like I now know why.
Shall keep my eye out for any decent used swivels going cheap..

Hi, any speedy advice much appreciated..
I've stripped it all down removed shaft and swivel, there definitely seems to be a leak from the axle not just one shot. The most important seal I need to replace is on the back inside of the swivel? The small one on the inside. I have a seal kit, but the reason I ask is because mine has ABS there is also a seal on the back of the stub axle - Haynes says that for that to be changed take to dealer?!
Thanks

Hi, I replaced my stub axle seal no problem. I think Haynes refers to the brass bush on the end.

Thanks, but the problem isn't the outer swivel seal I'm losing gear oil from the diff.
Just found that the inner swivel seal was on the wrong way round guessing that was the problem!!
