I took the rear diff out today which was simple enough, pull the half shafts and drop the diff. No need to remove the wheels.

Is it the same process for the front?

Defender 90!!!

If its just the diff you want out then yes its the same as far as I can tell, obviously remove the propshaft too

....hubs and CVs.

Shirley they come off with the halfshafts?

I did the easier way I guess, wheels off, calipers off, 7 bolts on eqch hub/halfshaft and pull out then remove the diff. My axle was on the floor though after removing it.

i usualy just undo 7 chrome ball to axle bolts and pull shafts out a few inches .eaving brakes a wheel station untouched, the silicone back up as gasket cant be renewed

What he said, can leave the calipers on I guess if your just wanting to disengage the halfshafts from the diff itself as there's enough slack on the brake lines.

I knew they were called Chrome ball/swivel to axle bolts anorl......
