Hi, new here. I've had my 04-plate freelander td4 se for 2 months now and this morning I snapped the aerial off by brushing snow off the roof. How easy is it to replace, do I need to replace the whole thing as the screw in bit completely sheered off?
The other thing I've noticed is that as I speed up/slow down the volume of the radio goes up and down. So much so that under 35mph I cant hear it an if i turn it up so I can when I hit 60mph its deafening! Has anyone else encountered this, is it a normal freelander thing?

certainly not normal freelander as im aware. aerial is piece of cake from inside behind interior light, just clips off. radio dunno

q2 i encountered this in my scenic, if you have the ice manual you can change the settings of the volume range or disable the feature altogether :)

regards to the radio i aint got a fecking clue! lol

the ariel should just be a small nut behind the interior light pop it off and have a peep. it happened to my misses 206cc be4 was a simple 5 min job
 
Mine doesn't change the volume that much, but to be fair it's only worked about 8 weeks in the last 14months.

Instead of replacing the mount, why not get a set of "easy outs" or "screw extractors" and remove the thread that's sheared off inside? You only need to replace the aerial instead of both that and the mount?
 
found it...rave cd. bosch audio. press tone button 5 times to deactivate speed volume control.

Speed volume: Pressing the tone
control five times (centre button) will
invoke a speed volume display,
adjustment of this setting will not have
any effect to the tone control or unit
performance.
NOTE: Each tone control setting will
be memorised and normal operation
will be resumed if no further
adjustments to tone control are
received within a five second period.
Reselection of the centre tone control
button within the five second period
will invoke the next tone control
display and enable adjustment of that
function.
Tone linear: Pressing the centre tone
control button for longer than 2
seconds will automatically set all tone
control settings to their midpoint
levels. The display will show:
The ’Tone linear’ display will time out
after five seconds.
 
Automatic volume control (AVC)
This function automatically adjusts the volume
level to compensate for engine and road noise.
To activate the function:
A. Press the M button (9) repeatedly until the
AVC display appears.
B. Press the seek control buttons (8) to
adjust the level of compensation,
including AVC OFF. The higher the
selected number, the greater the
compensation

If the thread is completely flush when it snapped, i would try drilling two holes and gripping them with say a side cutter. if not you might want to change it.

Just one question. Is there any place to get 12 volt, somenear the light, for an active antenna, or do i have to pull an separate 12 v cable up on the roof. Planning to install an shark formed active antenna instead of the normal wipe.

The interior light circuit is fed by a constant live (purple). You could use that as an active aerial doesn't use much power. ;)
 
you can just replace the antenna its self it is on a screw thread or you can take the hole thing of by taking the front interior light out and undoing the nut you can get the antenna from lr and the last time I brought one was around 12 pound
