Last year I bought a genuine landrover Freelander, fitted with a genuine landrover exhaust system, I then went and bought a genuine landrover freelander towbar, fitted it but it beats the hell out of the exhaust back box cos there's no clearance. I've contacted my local Landrover main dealer who are unwilling to give advice but will book it in to have a look, and also contacted a local private Landrover specialist who confirms all parts are correct but cannot explain why I have the problem... can anyone out there offer any solution??

I do apologise! Hello everyone and a happy new year to you all!
And yes, I'm afraid "I IS" currently just a hippo owner, but I was hoping that that wouldn't be held against me. I have owned a td5 Discovery in the past, and to date it is still the worst car I ever owned.
So... does anyone have any helpful advice for my problem?

so most likely the exhaust is not positioned correctly, try loosening the sliding joints and compressing the exhaust, thus making the overall length shorter and creating clearance.

Thanks Hippo.
freelance: thanks, but tried all that, spent hours underneath adjusting this and that, had it all off, ground off the little tits that determine how far one bit slides into the other, still no good. The first thing I did was to disc cut 3/4" off the tow bar otherwise it just would not have squeezed in in the first place. I've looked at others and their back boxes are all much smaller than mine, but my Landrover guy says it's the correct one. Looks like I'm going to have to put up with the constant knocking...
