Sorry lads another question, on the back box on my td4 the part that hooks the box to the rubber has rusted through so the exhaust moves quite a bit . I had a look at my sons 1.8 and it looks like its going the same way ,is this a known fault ? what I was thinking was to buy a Exhaust Muffler Silencer Pipe Hanger Clamp Strap Mount Bracket

Take the bolt out and insert a rod so I can fit it to the exhaust rubber ,make sense ? what do you think

Yes it's a common problem. The silencer is made of low grade stainless steel but the hanger is mild steel. The box lasts longer than the hanger in many cases. Although you could look at the top of the silencer for rust, which is also common on a 10 year old car. If the top of the silencer is rusted enough to make is leak, then a new silencer is needed anyway.

As far as I can see the silencer is fine is there a mod for this or how do you cure this ? I have some wire holding it to the rubber at the moment but it needs to be done properly

Do like the rest of us and tie it up with a bit of fencing wire until you get round to buying and fitting a new back box.

you can get a clamp with a hanger attached to it but they are hard to come by I just brought a exhaust clamp and welded a long bolt to it.
