hi there new to this but really need help ,i recently purchased a landrover freelander td4 6 months ago and to start with it was fine ,then on a short run out i noticed a whirring noise from under the vehicle this got progresively worse and then a banging noise ,iv parked the vehicle as im frightened of causing more damage ,just wondering if anyone has got any ideas to what it might be as i know nothing about 4*4s before i take to garage to be repaired .any help would be appreciated .thanks paul

could be the vcu support bearings need replacing.
or depending on the noise the ird and / or fd could be bust along with a siezed vcu.
check the vcu support bearing first, look underneath in the middle of the two propshafts

only had this 5 months and faults already ,really sick, how can i tell if the vcu support bearings need replacing ?? thanks paul

depends on the damage, 90 percent of the time its okay in 2wd as its just the splines gone where prop locates

would i be to remove this with guidance or would i have to go to garage , i would prefer it to keep it 4wd but if this is quick fix till after christmas ,il try it .thanks paul
