Getting a Freelander tomorrow - 1999/T Xi petrol

Noticed on test drive that inside of nearside rear tyre was worn, and this is being replaced for me, but does this indicate a tracking problem?

rear tyres wear quickly due to permanent 4wd, but it could be symptomatic of VCU probs - get it checked.

I assume that its a 1.8 then?

Yes t is the 1.8 - I checked the oil cap for mayo deposits and the water was clear so hopefully the head gasket is ok

are both tyres being replaced? should be done in pairs.

Yes, took delivery Yesterday and both rears are new.

that means either...
yu are lucky and got two new tyres....
or yu are unlucky and they hide a transmission problem.

get it checked - or check it yoself - easy to do - just do a search.

The fronts always wear afore the rears, more power on fronts unless orft roading, but could have bin swapped. . .

You need to check for handbrake inner cable rusting inside outer cable within the rear brake drum, I had this problem, failing that the rear wheel tracking is adjustable. ( Hope you can understand that !!! ) I had that problem, the tyre was scrap before I noticed it.
