Hi,

I am looking for a diesel Freelander at the moment and I have found a low milage R reg XEDI. It is cheap because it needs a new clutch. Does anybody know roughly what cost I would be looking at to get a garage do this? I know its a big job and was thinking maybe anywhere between 300 and 500?

I know nothing about mechanics really so thought I would check with you here because if I get it I dont want to get ripped off!

I'd say no more than £500; mostly labour costs to be honest.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen clutch kits online for £70 to £90 so was expecting it be mostly labour.

Book time is about 6 hours to replace the clutch...... I would get a fixed quote as the book times can be wildly short.

IME book times assume the car is on a lift and that you have all the spanners to hand and you know all the sizes that you will need.

Yes, and if nothing seizes or breaks while the job is being done!!!

Fixed quote is the way.
