The standard (factory fit sizes) are/were:
195/80 15
215/60 15
215/55 16
225/55 17
235/55 17
Anything wider than 235 will hit the shocks/struts.
Unless you intend going off-road it is pointless going any bigger or wider.
Quite frankly for road use in the winter you do not need anything more 'aggressive' than the above sizes.
If you think you do - you have not driven a Freelander in the snow yet and are underestimating its capabilities.
Sell the big chunky tyres to someone who wants to look impressive.
Stick with the size you've got if you just want to get around when others have stuck.
