Hi ya I am thinking about getting a freelander, it's mainly gunna be just for a daily drive buttttttttttttt I do live in Kent so I will be most deff be pointing it at the odd greenlane :) I will deff wanna do a few mods to make it a handle the mud and bumps, what's ya thoughts? Cheers
 
Well I was looking for a disco 300tdi to start with but then started thinking the mrs might prefer the slightly smaller option (I would rather disco) but if they r that **** I'll go with the disco lol

OK - what are you thinking of???

2" Lift kit
Rock sliders / steps
Different wheels 'n' rubber
Sump & Tank guard

Unless it's a v6 - you aint gonna get a snorkel

You can get some non-off road accessories: expedition rack / light bar / bonnet lamp kit (lights are always good).

There's isn't a great deal out there for the FL unfortunately.....
 
My last car was a 300TDi Disco,auto, nice old bus, reliable for a LR, put 60k on it in 6 years, very practical.
Replaced with a Freelander TD4 auto, does everything I need it to, which is mainly road work, true, but we get snow here every winter, proper snow, not just 1 or 2 days disruption. Looking forward to seeing how it compares to all the other 4wd cars Ive had when it comes.

Sez the bloke with rotbox that drinks like its got a culinder for a fuel tank LOL I know I owned one too!

Also owned a Disco 300TDI and enjoyed that. However as I dont greenlane or Offroad for work or on a regular basis, I dont need what they can do. My Freelander is sure footed enough for me to get to work in crap weather, will cope with mud snow and farmer's fields when I need to. It can also go a lot of other places when there is enough space to straddle ruts. Dont wade in it either as it has a tendency to float rather than sink. ;)

Horses for courses.... Defenders are Shire horses, Freelanders are Dartmoor ponies - tough as fook but shorter in the leg :D
