hello guys my Hawkeye arrived today and after waiting 3 hours for my key code i got it and used it on the car and i have these fault codes

Fault codes Historical

4016 failure of shuttle valve switch
4020 Valve relay failure 2
4022 Reference earth not connected to ground
4044 right hand front sensor Air Gap to large


where do i go about fixing this lot i have deleted the codes and the lights are now off and it does state HISTORICAL so does this mean it just needed a rest


the sensors are all new and will not go into the hole on the hub anymore

any help now to point me in the right direction would be greatly received

bumping to see if anyone can maybe point me in the right direction for the a couple of these faults
 
Delete the codes and take it for a drive if it's safe to drive, then check the codes again. Historic codes can fool you into thinking the problem still exists. Some faults can be intermittent so they may not come back for many miles.
 
cheers hippo i noticed they all said Historical

once deleted it reset the lights but i haven't being out in the car as i thought id update on here then with being the holidays i had to stop the kids from scrapping lol

don't no if you remember before i got my Hawkeye the fault was intermittent and then went permanent and these were clearly all the codes thats were stored from before
 
I guess historical means historical - seeing as you replaced the sensors anyway? It may have just needed resetting. The proof will be in the driving and the lights staying off! Presumably they come on briefly when you turn the ignition on?

Good to know the Hawkeye was able to read your ABS efficiently. What year is your Freelander?

hello being to Bridlington and back today and still on

was a smart boy tho and took the hawkeye with me and its the O.S.F Air gap to big

Is this just a case of taking sensor out and refitting it also dnt forget my O.S.F sensor ohms is slightly higher than what it should be at 1120(resistance)

P.S i have a 2000 model L series
 
being out and jacked the car up and found 2 faults

1 the when you spin the wheel the abs sensor catches in places

2 slight slight play in the wheel bearing

So that is on the OSF as the Hawkeye indicated? Not sure about a fix - I am afraid this is all new to me. I am following you as I know I will be going the Hawkeye route myself before the next MOT. Mine's a 1999 L series so probably identical to yours. I really like the engines.
 
my route to fix is buy a new Bearing, C.V Joint and new sensor.....

just so i can say i have replaced it all in the corner

also got an intermittent Shuttle Valve code today but i have some shuttle valves out of my old pump and im going to do the Pump bypass like the disco/hummer owners do
 
Hey hippo yeah turned out tobe a long pain in the butt

Previous owners by pssed abs
Dnt no why clearly didnt wnt to pay full price for a sensor

Anyway to fix my problem it took
4 abs sensors
4 abs ring
2nd hand abs pump
Shuttle valve bypass

Then before that I had to fix the light on dash as when I got it tbey had wired it up to somethingthat went off after 5 seconds
 
Just need to fix the rest of my problems now

Smoky start up when the weather temp is low
Vcu and bearings mine stuck with little drive to rear

Onthe plug side I have 2 vcu to send to bell lol

Play in the bearing is likely to push the sensor back making the airgap too large.
