This radio appears to have slots for a removal tool (searching elsewhere I got a reference to a LRT-86-009 for USD29) Is it that easy on this radio? all the threads I have found so far seem to require the whole consul being dismantled. I only want to check the speaker connections as the previous owner said something about bent pins - and only the driver door and the woofer in the frog pond works

Hi. have to say what a pile of old poo the satnav/radio is, I have it also and the sound is tinny at the front combined with a deep rumble from the sub in the back, I would love to change the head, but being HK it would be difficult combining a new radio head unit and ditching the sub but retaining the wheel controls.....any advice fellas ?, what unit and what extra wiring ??

Hey - Blue - are you hijacking my thread (;-)) I am trying to find out how to get it out! I have to say you are right - it's no great Satnav and it may have poor sound too but I am initially trying to find out why the speakers don't all work - and step one - can I get it out with a simple tool instead of a consol stripdown?

What I can work out from other threads is that you will have to strip the consul out , starting with the top black strip exposing the two screws holding it in, a pain but straightforward taking your time, I will be doing it eventually.

Well - Here's a stroke of luck - on browsing for any reference to keys to fit Freelander Navisys Radio/cd/nav items like the one in my picture (sorry it's a thumbnail but it seems to open OK) - I came across an American site that mentioned Freelander as well Merc Audi VW - and I noticed that on Amazon the same key is listed - just does not mention Freelander or Laand Rover. So I took a punt at £4.98 and Loh and Behold - pop in the long key legs facing outwards (you can feel them click in very easily) gentle pull and it's out - see picture of my Amazon purchase - now we have our eye in I expect the same keys will be on ebay even cheaper

so could you release the radio without stripping out the consul then ? should fit mine then as mine is a 2004 hse

update, just looked at my navisat radio and yes there are two slots at the bottom, never noticed them before....top job dfossil.

If I am not mistaken you can get those keys on ebay for 99p - from China but that is only a day or two more
