Since new I had a concerning problem with my Freelander 2 auto.
When hot and stationary, releasing the brake would intermittently cause a really hard shift into drive - as though I had just received a severe rear end impact. Unless caution was taken, the car would jump forward around a foot!
Numerous requests for the LR main dealer to investigate, always came back with 'no fault found'.
Then I stumbled across TSB LTB00782v3/2015 dated 1st October 2015. It describes the symptoms exactly (although in politically subdued terms) and applies to thousands of Freelanders and Evoques.
It's a transmission software update.
Why the dealer claimed to be unaware of the issue is beyond me as it applies to so many cars.
I asked that this update be performed and since it was done, the car has behaved impeccably.
They charged me £150 for the pleasure which I objected to as the fault was clearly there from new, but I lost that battle.
However, it turned out to be money well spent.
This bulletin covers other manifestations of transmission problems so might be worth following up for the some of the issues described earlier in this thread.
