Freelander 2 2008 HSE When I move the gear lever to the left it does not go into sport mode, the m/s light does not light,and D stays on the display, the car stays in auto mode, any ideas please.

From memory there's a hall effect sensor in the gear selector assembly, below the lever. It's possible the sensor is faulty, or the magnet has come adrift, or maybe there's corrosion from a spillage in the wiring below the lever?

Thank you for the reply, will try and take a look tomorrow .... will there be a fuse for this circuit do you think?

There's unlikely to be a fuse, as the TCM (transmission control module) will be looking at various inputs, and select any program as needed.
