Hello fellow land roverists. New to this forum lark so bare with.
I wonder if anyone's had the same issue with their freelander.
My 56 plate has an interesting issue. If i accelerate hard, particularly when turning right it misses and nearly stalls then you change up a gear and it runs fine. Weird thing. Otherwise it's a manual td4 with 122000 miles on it and it runs really well. Mine from new it's had a few issues in its time. All of them sorted easily enough, but this has me.
Anybody any clues

Hello and welcome.
I would advise against accelerating hard whilst turning either left or right. Usually results in a mishap.:)
 
As a rat man I thought you'd understand. Lower that bugger dude.
Once made a trike from a freeloader. I just hacked the springs to get it down.
First to the next light wins. Oh don't forget to put a tuning module on it to give some poke n smoke..

id check the vcu and stop smoking whatever you are
 
Sounds like an engine breathing issue. Check the egr is clean and the manifold, has the crankcase breather been changed?
Could also be the MAP sensor dirty or on its way out.

I will change the breather as I haven't changed that yet thanks. Although I'm more on the side of a fuel issue. It just feels like it hits the rev limiter at 2 to 2500 revs.

Definitely clean the MAP sensor then. Left hand side of engine under the manifold, little rectangular box about an inch by a half. Use carb/brake cleaner. Just dont stick anything down the little hole!

If it rev limits to 2,500 revs you're description of "accelerate hard" is hardly gangsta is it?

If you were going hard out round a bend, I don't think you'd change gear whilst doing it. If you did, you wouldn't be here to write it up, you'd be wrapped round a tree. So I presume you are changing up after leaving the bend.

If it is doing an impression of stalling, I'm not sure why you'd change up - more likely to change down.

If you are in gear and it is hesitating - it could be the engine or transmission, what happens if you turn sharp right in neutral - does the engine stutter, but the car coasts through the bend OK? That being the case its the engine. If the car stutters, but the engine's fine, then its the transmission.

If its the transmission - my first check would be the tyres. Do you ever hear tyres scuffing when turning corners or feel like they may be? Are they all the same make/model and pumped to the same/correct pressure?
 
No. It's only at high revs through a right bend eg roundabout. Oh and I'm in 1st so it'll pull from 2nd.
Cars always run tyres really well. 27000 miles on this set so far. Always changed all four and only the 3rd set of tyres since new.
I'm convinced it's engine. I've already changed the map sensor but I feel a service coming on so I'll add it to the list.
Im about as gangsta as Peppa Pig but I don't hang around.

My old V6 Freelander did a similar thing within a few seconds of a sharp right hand turn. This momentary power drop out was most evident when the fuel was under 1/4 of the tank. It turned out to be a faulty fuel pump,sucking in air mid corner. When the air reached the injectors, it spluttered.
Could your issue be similar, I wonder?
 
Now I'd considered this. I've not let the tank go below 3/4 full and makes no difference. No puff of smoke or light on the dash either.
