Outer or inner?
I can do an outer in 30 minutes, providing it all goes smoothly. The inner joint does take longer though, as it's more messing about, often involving draining the IRD/gearbox.
I'll have to clamber under and take a look, outer hopefully by the sound of things.
Unfortunately it's the inner thats worn so I assume a right Royal PITA to do. Any hints or tips greatly appreciated.
Assume the drive shafts needs to come out to do this so gearbox oil drain down?

It is possible to do with the shaft in the box, but it's much easier to remove the shaft, so you can whack it hard enough to split the outer CV off the shaft. Replacing the boots is a 10 minute job, once the shaft is off and the outer joint has been removed.
Depending on what side needs doing, depends on which component needs draining. The RH shaft needs the IRD oil to be drained, although IRD oil should be changed and analyzed regularly anyway.
The LH shaft needs the gearbox to be drained, again it's not a waste, as oil degrades, so smooth gear changes are often noticeable after fresh oil is in there.
