Only just getting round to doing this... To remove the engine mount is it ok to support the the engine with some timber under the sump or should I support it somewhere else? You need to remove the alloy cross mount, or you can't get access to the plug in the timing case. It's only 5 bolts and 1 nut to get it off. You also need to support the weight of the engine from below.

I used a trolley jack with some wood fitted to the top - that way I could fiddle the engine up a down a bit to refit the mount.Only just getting round to doing this... Hi, just watched a video on this and it showed him locking the engine. I've not seen any comments on here about doing this. Do I need to do that? That's fine.![]()

Cheers. Yes got the special tool and new seals etc so just about to start. No need to lock the engine to change the HP pump. The sprocket nut generally isn't so tight that it turns the engine, rather than release. If it is tight, then a tap on the end of the wrench handle will free it.
Make sure you have the special tool and know how to use it.
I'm going to be rebuilding my HP pump soon as it's leaking. So I'll be doing the same thing myself, again.

That's it, all done and dusted, took me all day though. Knocking off cost of sprocket retainer and seals I've saved myself £595 although they were going to put a reconned pump on.
Took it out for a good thrash last night and put some cardboard underneath it when I got back home. Not a drop of diesel on it this morning.
Thanks a million to everyone for all your help and advice, it's great having people in ur corner that have done it all before...
I know there's loads of info on this fix on the forum but if I can help anyone out in more than happy to.
Big kudos to all out there who contribute
