well managed to get a few more jobs done today... mainly the flip front and arches....

however I must confess as i'm afraid my landy is almost a hybrid.... to my enduring shame I have fitted arches from an American offroad vehicle.... cant even bring myself to say the name...

however I shall now go n stand in the naughty corner and whip myself with nettles ..... :(

We must remember the j started all of the metal machines we all ( enjoy).
The muricans made an inferior machine that us Brits have perfected ( maybe).
Looks great, hope the arches look good when the correct wheels are fitted.
 
If you hadn't said owt you could have got away with that
Unless they have j**p stamped on um :D

You really think that:rolleyes:Jeeps will be around long after they quit making the defender:p:p

The name j refers to a company, I do believe Land Rover ( who have a far better and diverse product range) will outlast the j company.
I was not referring to the defender, as the 80" series one was although after its first major revision ( front suspension) was a far superior product compared to the Willy's! How many parts on the current models of j can be traced back to the original model???

how many are on the td5 or puma that were on the original? that could be the issue for defenders slow death, not keeping up with change. They used to be a vehicle for out backs and rough use, but Toyota has out done them

The rope tie thingy on the side if the tub is the same as from I believe from the 80"?
I read this in a lr magazine as these were given out at a launch.
I agree the defender is not as evolved as when it was first introduced, But where is the original j?
This is going off topic and I don't believe the op was looking for the topic to be taken in this direction.

if you look at a new defender you can see that it evolved from the series 1

they were outlawed in the states to protect the home market

the same thing is now happening in europe due to BS from the H&S lobby

now is a good time to buy one - prices will rise when new ones are no longer available
 
I can't believe thora is trying to convince a land rover forum that jeeps are better! :doh: :D
