Just driven past a ford maverick all kitted up. Snorkle and insa specials on.

They any good in the rough stuff?

I know they have the nissan engine, did look at one in the past. With nissan running gear should be ok would have thought.

We had the Nissan version, the Terrano 2, it was my wife's car,we had it 8 years and hardly put a spanner to it.
Off road it was very able,it was a short wheel version.

Had a Maverick come out with us last time. Got stuck everywhere and blew a diff by the end of the day. No where near enough ground clearance.

The 2.7 diesel engine is used in black cabs, they've racked up interstellar mileages, as to the rest of the car, dunno, HJ was nasty about them so the wife bought a Freelander :)

I van vouch for that engine... totally bomb proof

Not sure about the rest of it... but curious as my friend is looking into one now she has passed her driving test

If you hit and short out the trailerboard socket, rear fog light or rear lights while yer driving a maverick or terrano you lose the feed to the dash and the engine cuts out and won't re-start.:eek::eek:

They're good on muddy fields with a horse box on the back! The ex missus had one years ago and I had a go in it. And the terrano.

The police ones used in my area used to dig themselves down to their axles when on mud. If I remember right, there is a whole page in the manual explaining that they are only a recreational vehicle designed for light offroading and not deep mud.

They do roll over quite easily offroad anorl. I've had to right and then extract a couple of them after they've gone over on greenlanes.
