I had the joys of being requested to accompany the USN or USAF plain clothes police (OSI or some such name, maybe NCIS
) once in Florida near NAS Cecil Field. They were conducting raids of naughty bars in the area as there was a big "No one leaves the camp for 2 weeks" exercise going on. Of course that was USN & USAF, not us Limey's.We'd left Mr Magoo's which was apparently out of bounds to all American service personnel. We being Brits claimed we were not made aware of such a ban
(honestly hahaha). So we played dumb, they dropped us back at the main gate and drove off. We promptly walked straight back to Mr Magoo's to carry on our night. The doorman's name was Gator. You can imagine what he looked like and you'd be right hahahaExactly! Gator skin waist coat, cowboy hat, massive beer belly and a huge Crocodile Dundee knife on his beltA guy named Gator in Florida.
