OK just got my P38 tonight, noticed an issue with the fobs...

The fob will unlock the car but will not lock the car (this happens with both fobs), so have to use the key to actually lock the car.

As it will unlock, that rules out RF and actuators?

Any ideas?

does the red light flash on the fob while pressing lock buttons? also as irish says sync one key on its own
if they are both of the same key numbers both key 1 or both key 2 the one will cancel the other out

I have tried locking and unlocking within 30 seconds, that doesn't seem to make any difference...

The only thing I have noticed is that the dash says the key is in the lock even when it isn't...

ignition barell sticking on key release ,when removing the key tap the barell with the key blade common fault

Is the key in ignition warning still on the dash display? If so it will not lock on the remote.
If it is then lube up the ignition switch so that the mechanism free's up and the warning will stop..... remote will lock again.....

OK confused now - drov to work and even though tapped barrel to get rid of dash alarm, still would not lock on fob, decided to check out rr.net - the method there for re-synronising the ket fob is to shut the door, put the key in the door, hold the lock button then turn the key to lock for 3 seconds, release and remove the key, then release the lock button.

I went to try this, but when I put the key in the lock and proessed the lock button, the door car locked  so I took the key out, unlocked using the fob, locked using the fob - it is working again and I didn't do anything - honest guv.

I can see owning the P38 is going to be a roller coaster ride of electrickery experiences...

Try the same sequence with the other key.
Sounds like, as others have posted, two keyfobs the same, i.e. two no.1 fobs etc.
