What would be the symptons of a faulty sensor the one that is in the bellhousing and presumably reads the engine speed and position td5 by the way thanks for any help

The engine would be cranking over but not firing.

Just had a look at Rave and the wokshop manual lists symptoms as
1. Engine cranks but fails to start
2. Engine Malfunction light (MIL) stays on all the time
3. Engine misfire, or it runs roughly or stalls if sensor incorrectly fitted
Sensor has no backup strategy and it it fails, engine will stop running and not start.
