Spreading Joy & Harmony
ok, ive read the threads, is this what i do...

1. remove 1 of the hoses going into the heater in the engine bay

2 Put a garden hose onto the metal pipe going into the heater

3 flush for a couple of mins with engine running, letting the detached rubber hose be the outlet to a drain.

4 stop engine, reattach rubber pipe to metal pipe

Will this though empty the coolant thats in the radiator etc? Or is that a seperate circuit?

Thanks, Mark

If you just want to flush the heater matrix remove both pipes and flush backwards and forwards until the water runs clean. You wont loose a lot of coolant this way. No need to run engine.
A few days before you do this put some domestic central heating sludge remover or some kettle descaler in the cooling system and drive around normally before flushing.
However if your heater matrix is clogged then chances are your radiator and block are also full of crap so may be as well to flush the complete system. Remove what hoses you can and flush both directions until you get clean water.

It's all one system bud

It's best to drain all the coolant out and flush with water, then refill with clean water and use a chemical cleaner like wynns to thoroughly clean the cooling system.

read through this link chap and it will all be explained

http://www.wynns.net/assets/product_sheets/Radiator Flush 65310 PIS.pdf

obviously you wont need to buy the machine!!

you can do it manually

hope this helps
