Thank you to everyone that has replied to my post.

So after all the this we took the cover off and gave the pump a good tap with a spanner. Hay presto the pump is working and the car is running!!!

I will be replacing it, just in case. I just need to buy a new one now so I'm off to have a look.

Should i buy a bosch pump or one of these?

Why would you buy a Freelander pump for an L322? Are they exactly the same? An L322 has a bigger engine than the Freelander so needs a higher fuel flow.

I took the part number from here and put it into ebay and thought they were the same.

identical part numbers on island 4x4 so would say its the same pump for a freelander and a l322
