I'm about to start covering the seat box, insides of doors etc in Flashband to help reduce the drumming from bare metal panels.

There is a review on Screwfix that says if you use a hot air gun then you don't need to use the corresponding primer, is that correct? I don't want to have to pull the seats out again in 6 months.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for fitting the stuff? I was going to use a hair dryer and a small roller to apply it.

stick it on, heat a bit and cut.

top tip, if your defender ever catches fire.. run like the wind

Degrease panel thoroughly beforehand.
Warm up the flashband a bit. If it's a cold day, it can be very inflexible.
Heat gun and roller flat is good idea.

I used it in my vw camper. Seemed
to help.

really you don't need to cover the entire area, just iirc 25% in the middle, which is why you sometimes see manufacturers having random squares on body panels. it cuts the low freq vibrations.

On my camper, I found that flashband and noisekiller did help, but the best was extra felt/foam insulation on top, which really damped the noise down a lot.

different frequencies require different products.

bit of flashingtape and camping mats glued on top work well for a cheap solution.

Yup - spot on.
Also, you can use wood floor underlay, the adhesive backed foam type .
It's not as tough as camping mats, but is ideal to put inside doors etc.,
And you can add as many layers as you like.
