Its MOT time again and I need a new rear number plate. Its currently stuck on and I want to securely fit the new one with screws (ideally the plastic kind). How does the rear number plate attach to the car as some cars have a captive nut? Is it a pain to get the lower door trim off?

However you affix it, be bloody sure it's level as a level thang,. I detest ineptitude when it comes to levelling.

One thing is for certain, you don't want water in that tailgate or it will rot the button out and unless you have a manual override fitted that'll be jumping locks and no boot access followed by a rotten tailgate. So sealant in the screw holes!
Maybe go James Bond style rotating plates for the M25 camaras? Probably LCD these days instead of mechanical.

I wasn't suggesting using a level to fit the number plate.
Eyeballing the plate works for me but it irritates me to see plates fitted out of square.
Simple measuring will get it right.
Also, use a blunt drill bit as new ones can grab and split the plate around holes.

Pretty sure the p38 won't do more than 70mph
Ask Doo. Even the diesel does over a tun and can sit on an autobahn at 90mph for hours on end (wearing ear defenders or plugs!)
You only need ear defenders if you have lost control of the radio volume. Mine is very quiet at any speed.

Compared to the Jag it is noisy. 90mph in the Jag and the loudest thing you can hear is the tick of the long-case clock or a log settling in the grate.
Must have taken some doing fitting a long case clock and a woodburner in the Jag.

Ah, yes. There is some truth to that. I am on first name terms with just about all the garages on my usual routes. on the other hand, compared to the 4.0 or 4.6 RR I am quids in.
Well the RR V8 is an adapted American engine when all is said and done. Fuel use is not an issue over there.
