Is it actually as easy as I think it looks?!
I've already saved some cash by buying the exhaust online myself! if I can fit it myself from what I was originally quoted Ill have saved myself 80 squids!! ...and its only the back section :rolleyes:

I was gonna book it in tomorrow but upon closer inspection Im pretty sure it would be well easy, just dont have anything to jack it up and secure it with so ill have to squeeze it in on the deck...what you reckon, enough space? :D
 
I'm not sure which joint you mean, but if it's the one with flanges and three bolts, it should have a gasket. A smear of exhaust paste will help give you a decent seal. If you're talking about the section that goes over the back axle, to get the old one out and the new one in it helps if you jack up the chassis and let the axle dangle otherwise there isn't room.
 
could use some of the £80 you save to buy a set of ramps to make it easier and then you'll have the ramps for other stuff that will inevitably need doing
 
If its just the rear part you should be ok ( one rubber and three nuts)
All the nuts will be rusted up and if you can get a socket on them they will just snap off
But the bolts are in the rear side on the exhaust flange so not a problem

When I did mine the nuts where so rusty they where round and about two sizes smaller then they started off life as
So I had to grind the heads off
 
Yeah as said I'm gonna need a farm jack there's not enough space between the chassis and axle:S
Anyone local I can borrow one from?:D lol

I dont even like leaning under the back of the truck to jack up the back axle! lol I did wonder if this was a good idea:rolleyes: but its really only to separate the axle from the chassis so I can thread the pipe through to the centre pipe...I gonna have a proper go tomorrow anyway and try and make it happen:D
 
Okay so I had to take the back wheel off to fit it in only to find that the fecking new exhaust was shorter and missing the dog leg left, about 8 inches of pipe that fixes to the centre pipe so....I had to butcher the old one taking that section which then fat perfectly on to middle section, good job I still had the old clamp that joined the old one on!!

I also happened to notice while under the truck that the middle section of the exhaust has indeed, almost completely sheered off :doh:
Split all the way around...
Its true what they say about landrovers, youre never done, and when you think you are, something else needs doing/replacing:frusty: FFS!!
Back on ebay to spend some more mulas...

This is'nt good advice, but when under your landy only look at what your mending ellse you will find other stuff and may be under there some time
