I'm probably going skiing in my TD4 in January and would like this as an extra...

It can Drew, but from what i here there not a cheap item to buy new.
You might be best off visiting a local breakers, that way you can see all the pipework and any wiring you might need,(Its possible that the wiring could be in place as its an optional extra)
Other alternative is to give the dealers a ring and ask em whats involved, what part no's you need and how much

Anyway, enough silliness for a minute... I see there is one on ebay for £250 second hand, so I may get one cheaper if I find one at a breaker's yard locally. Will drop this guy a line and ask how much fuss it is too fit and if the wires are already there.

Suggest a switch is always a good option. Just in case you want to work on it - or the thermostat (i assume that is how it would be operated) goes Kapput.
