Yes its got a spring in it, you just have to be careful when you take it off, I'll try not to park next to a drain.. :D

I was being carfull lifting aerial off base getting hand under to catch spring

I had the mount indoor put spring in mount and even soldiered the spring in place. The only thing i never tried was drilling through the side of it and putting a small bolt through.
Might get a mount you can angle fo when in an aera whith lots of low branches:D:D

I'm going to get a short rubber duck type Ariel for laning, after all your only speaking car to car so a few hundred yards is all you need, and it only takes a few seconds to swap them over.
