Hi just fitted the egr blanking plate eventually to my td5 (poor fitting intructions)and i must say it has made a big diference ,it now revs alot higher between gearchanges and is more responsive on take off it also seems to be faster 0-60.can anybody tell me if this will have any long term affects to my engine and i fitted it to the pipe nearest the exhaust manifold with the gasket to the egr side of the plate is this correct ? going to get the hp upped next any recomendations psi power box or dastek?cheers gazv70

The mod kit you have fitted which prevents exhaust gas recirculation will not prove harmfull to your engine, in fact is more likely to be beneficial due to lower carbon depsoits within the engine, the only possible downside is that it may fail future emissions tests done for MOT's especially as your engine wears and if tests get more stringent than they are now.

Not familiar with chip options on TD5, but full size intercooler made about 25% more power on my 200TDi, and the full Janspeed Stainless Exhaust a further 5-10% (estimated).

So does this mean, a week before MOT just take off the blanking kit and reconnect everything as orginal

At the moment, it doesn't mean anything as the MOT hasn't been tightened up :)

So, it will be just fine without an EGR for the MOT at present. I'd hang onto it though because one day you might need it again!
