HI guys, im FINALLY nearly finished my fixing saga of late, after rebuilding my halfshaft,cv and general ds front end i had to put a new stub axle back on, but i cant work out wether or not i have been given the wrong part or not, everything fits like it should, but there is a slight bit of movement in the wheel hub, is that acceptable? the hub nut is right at the end of the thread on the stub axle, and to what i remember that isnt right, as it all fits can i get away with just packing it with a shim/washer between the bearing and the hub nut or what could i do?

Thanks guysssss

you shouldnt run out of thread before things tighten up, the bearings are on a slight taper??? have u got the right washers etc in place there should be no need to shim a wheel bearing??

cheers steve

Thats what i thought steve, im fairly sure i have yeh, it should be outer bearing > washer > hub nut > washer > outer nut shouldnt it? this is why im thinking the stub axle might be wrong, if im not able to shim it up i will take it off and also the old one off the other side and compare them..

yeh thats what i thought but im fairly sure im at the end of the thread.. ill go and make sure in a sec, is shimming it acceptable?

no because it you have all the right parts in the right order fitted correctly it wouldnt need it so one of the 3 isnt

Right, ive taken them off, and yeh there appears to be a difference, Looking at the parts list i can only find the one on the diagram with code FRC4320, which is the one i was supposedly supplied with, anyone got any ideas?

Heres an idea of the difference to aid anyone that can help;
