not sure how compressor was set there was a regulator which the bro in law adjusted to how he wanted it..
any tips?......yeh whatever time you think it will take double it..
would i do it again?...not a fookin chance its been a long job as i could only get there in the eves,and the occassional saturday..
but hopefully once its all back together it will be worth it.

ok heres the actual quantitys used..
2k etch primer used 1/2 a litre this done the 2 front doors and a thin coat over most other areas
2k high build primer 3 litres this done a flash coat all over,and then 2 heavy coats and then just used up the remainder on doors/bonnet
2k solid coat paint 3 litres and 10% 2k thinners this done a flash coat and 3 good coats of paint.i have a small amount left that will be used for touch ups and for bits that are exsposed once all masking tape and paper is removed..
this was on a csw,so solid panel sides may take a tad more..

Got a wee compressor which will probably do the trick, but spraying outside so the weather will have to be spot on, and will probably take ages to do.
I sprayed one of my old VW's outside years ago, and although i didn't get anywhere near a show room finish i was well pleased with the way it turned out.
Keep us posted with the rebuild, would love to see her finished

You want about 40psi for paint spraying. Where most DIYers go wrong is using too excessive air pressure which drys the paint before it hits the panels. You want to spray the paint so it stays wet and gives you time to overlap. Make sure you drain the air tank regularly if you dont have a water desicator. Also use a clean air line that has not had an oiler fitted.
You need a decent capacity air tank (say 100 litres or more) otherwise you will be stopping and starting waiting for the compressor to catch up and your coverage and finish will be variable. I've sprayed a car with a hobby compressor and a 25 litre air tank before now but it was not quick or easy. Take your time. Mask up properly as it saves hours later on. Many light coats 15 minutes apart are better than a few heavy coats which risk slumping or running. Other than that its a piece of piddle.
