Nanocom is a cheaper option but only has a small screen, Faultmate needs a laptop but is a great piece of kit. For Faultmate look at the kit section on the blackbox-solutions web site which will list your car type.

Nanocom is multi vehicle single engine type, Faultmate is single vehicle VIN locked and can do more. Nanocom is fine for most DIY requirements as long as the small screen does not put you off, it has the advantage that you can just leave in the glove box.

The Faultmate MSV2 Extreme also has its own screen, as well as being able to attach to laptop for more functionality, but means you can leave it in the rangie without worrying about a laptop being charged.

The screen is very limited on the Faultmate, but as you say it can be used stand alone.The Faultmate MSV2 Extreme also has its own screen, as well as being able to attach to laptop for more functionality, but means you can leave it in the rangie without worrying about a laptop being charged.
