Hooked up my new scanner 2day, every now & again 1st thing when driving the Amber Engine Management Light comes on for approx 20secs/car stutters then clears itself & is fine.....
Codes PO301/PO302/PO303/P3034 are all Cylinders 1-4 Misfires so same fault causing this & Code PO313 MISFIRE DETECTED LOW FUEL is the last one.....

Plugs have been changed but i am more inclined to look at the Fuel Filter?

What do you think.......(1.8 Petrol Engine)
Runs sweet as a dream 99% of the time.....

Cheers, Ian

Ignore the Low Fuel Misfire as that's common. To be affecting all cylinders it is likely fuel related, possibly the pump or it's relay/ wiring. You have to pull the pump out the tank to change the filter so it's worth checking it while it's out ;)

Cheers Nodge.....if it was the pump would it not be doing it all the time instead of just every so often

Hi all, starting to notice a bit of a pattern forming with the Amber Management Light flashing on for a bit then running smoothly.........always happens when the fuel tank needle is sitting just below the 1/4 tank full

The rest of the time its fine, if it was a faulty pump or fuel filter clogged it would do it all the time or every now & again at different levels of fuel im thinking....

I can still run the car for a few days till till the fuel light comes on so not thinking its not reading the fuel level wrong....

Any ideas..........:(

May I ask what kind of a scanner you bought? I have an ELM327 based one, and have tryed a lot of different programs to get the faultcodes, but no luck. I am connected to the ECU, and everything seem to communicate correctly. I asume it has something to do whit the scanner not beeing compatible. Sorry for hijacking your thread! :)

Hi Morten,
I bought a D900 Universal OBD2 EOBD CAN Fault Code Reader Scanner from a seller on ebay uk.....2013 version, seems to work very well & not 2 expensive

Hope this helps:D

When the fuel level is below approximately 15 liters the ECU runs a slightly different strategy. The idea being that it's possible the for air to be drawn into the fuel pump inlet which would cause a temporary misfire so the ECU should ignore this misfire to avoid a MIL event. As to why the ECU is flagging the this is beyond me :( maybe you have a pump that has a split in the suction pipe below a 1/4 way up I guess ?

Hi, suppose the best thing to do is have a look at the pump/filter.....just nipped out in her there & drove with no lights flashing ......she drove fine:confused:

Also why would it stutter for just a few moments.....is that the ECU compensating....

Baffled.....perhaps i should just fill her up everytime it gets down to 1/4 tank:D

Cheers......

Hei there, i have purchased the d900 as well, however when plugin it in ( freelander 2001 petrol) passenger seat i got nothing, just saying unable to establish link, any idea of what that could be?

This might sound stupid, but have you turned the key? ;)
I also have a 2001 petrol, and the scanner was not able to find any codes, I take it it reads generic codes, but not LR specific ones?

Hi, never had any probs with mine connecting tho there are other perps on here who said they have had problems with this scanner....best bet is to just try it a few times ie unplug/replug in & make sure it is a tight fit at the socket...

Cheers

Then i guess it must be me and my luck with this car

Needed to try and reset the srs lamp and do some other tests.
Thanks tho

Sometimes the connectors spread in the socket causing no connection. What year and engine is it?

This scanner WONT reset the SRS....i had to go to a garage & get mine reset, shop around tho as some garages will charge the earth for just 10mins to do the reset....
