Hiya all, not as technical as some of the questions on here but my fan belt has developed an annoying squeek, dunno if its a prob but its annoying

try tightening it, then if it still squeaks, spray a tad of wd40 on it, you could always put a new one on

Thanx Yella is tightenin it hard work? il give it a quick shot of wd40 cos it seems to be the top wheel that it goes round

My Disco had the same anoying squeek, so i put up with it! (DONT)
The noise seem to come from the top pully wheel. It eventualy stripped the first 5 mm off the belt and that flapped round and ripped the sound proofing off the inside of the bonet. I had the belt changed afterthat, but it only lasts 7 months before it starts again.
Pully wheels didnt seem to be loose, so i just keep an eye on it now!

Sounds like you have an aligment problem or damaged pully crusty6.

A lot of belts will squeek a bit, and a dab of oil will sort it no problem, if your getting a squeek and clearly the belt is being damaged then you need to look further.

The sounds deffo appears to come from the top pully wheel the belt looks to be in good order no wearing that i can see, il try a shot of wd40 n see if that helps. Just want my goog old disco sound back instead of that annoying squeek!!!

Get one of those little slivers of soap that pile up on the soap dish and rub that along a small exposed section of the fan belt. It lubricates and cleans the pulleys and stops the noise. If the noise comes back quickly (day or two) then its usually a pulley alignment or tension problem.
