Hi
2006 Rr vogue auto diesel
Whilst driving today car suddenly flashed up this message and car lost power and sounded like clutch slipping right in middle of busy roundabout... surprised nothing hit me!
If I turn it off and on again no error message comes up and car drives normally for a while before message reoccurs
Now I’ve read that it could be any number of things from low oil level, inhibitor switch, sludge in gearbox, damaged o rings in the clutches
Does anyone have any experience of this and what the most common cause is?
Going to mechanic in morning to see if there’s an error code and check oil levels
Any insight would be gratefully received
Many thanks
Clive

Being the GM5l40 i'd say it was circling the drain..

However i'd be inclined to put her on Diagnostics.

That said, diagnostics is always my first call, the GM transmission suffers from the valve block wearing , losing pressure to the lock up clutch in the torque converter which fails, dumps metal debris in the rest of the transmission which causes a total failure and rebuild requirement . This is often done without applying the sonnax upgrade to the valve body and so you only have to wait 10K mikes instead of 100K to enjoy the whole experience again.
I’m only guessing but diagnostics followed by checking fluid for glitter is all I know, bemble or saint could enlighten you further

If it is it needs the upgrade HC was on about or it will fail as well.

I'd have thought they'd be a recall on it but no doubt LR deny everything.
