Just wanted to know on the right hand side behind nearside headlamp there is what looks like an additional lighting socket with 3 connectors and another next to it with 2 spade connectors...

Mines the ES... the fog lights in bottom of bumoper are already cneected so not them

Nope..... standalone spade connectors behind the headlamp is non-standard LR only use sockets the other socket that's spare and you should have one behind the other lamp will be head-lamp leveling motor connection depending on model year.

A pic would be handy harry :)

Sorry it's not the headlamp adjusters, checked those
Its slightly further back, its a 3 way female socket and 2 black plastic covered female spades as one unit... will get a pic tomorow

Will wait for the pic then, the only other electrical item on the near side at the rear of the headlamp box would a cruise control vacuum pump that's fitted on a V8 as an option.

If you have a tdi then what electrical item do they have fitted in that n/s location.

Some pictures...I have included the colours of the wiring

I've got those too always wondered what were for. Assume they might be for the American market as they require side marker lights. An old 1980's Saab 900 had extra 25 watt light bulbs in the front side light unit that came on when selecting reverse. A very useful thing to have, never seen it since.
