Right, what is the diameter of a 1987 200tdi's exhaust pipe? Tried looking it up - but could only find things to do with intercoolers and radiators. Planning on a straight through tailpipe to match the midpipe. Cheers.
 
Could say I am lazy, but I want to know what I am buying before I takethe exhaust to bits, from my past experience, my 90 does give up parts easily. Needs persuading with hammers and grease. Just wanted a heads up
 
the downpipe is standard, straight through midpipe, made for the 200tdi 90 not a bodged one, and a standard rear box.
 
if ya straight thro mid section has a flange at the end

ya can buy the matching other flange and a short tail peace

to work from of fleabay

but ya will prob have ta get ya tape measure out to measure yours
 
Im a bit of a noob when it comes to mechanics, I mean i know what type of flange I need to have, but i am worried about it not reaching over the chassis and the diff might crush it off road if not the correct shape lol. I mean its simple stuff, but its got to be right. I just wanna **** the chavs off with loads of noise lol
 
they make the tailipe i want only for the 300, td5, tdci and the v8 -.- but not 200, so have to make self. Easy-ish to do but.... any help is greatly appreciated :D
 
mine wernt that much louder with back box off

buy the bends and weld ya own someone will make one for a 200tdi 90

sure when i bought mine i could get end section aswell
 
I used the middle from a 200tdi & welded up a 90deg bend out the side.
Cut the pipe into wedges to go around the bend.
 
You'll have a hell of job finding a purpose made 200tdi rear pipe, me and my dad cut a TD5 Rear silencer to fit, got a good compromise of noise and restriction I think :) Pictures aren't very clear, but we didn't have much trouble to get it to fit, and it looks standard which is good :)

If anyone could post some photos of what they have done that would be nice :D Only if its on a 200tdi 90 tho :p
 
So did you just trim it down to the required length? is that the standard td5 rear silencer or an uprated one? And is it loud lol? Want something to sound like the td5 challenge / trial trucks. I know its not quite gonna be like that because the TD5 is much more powerful especially when tuned, but hoping for something close :)

Yeah we trimmed it, got it at Peterborough for £20 :D as far as I know it's a standard TD5 back box, supposed to be stainless, but it is rusting slightly, god knows what that's about, and it's not deafening, straight through is louder, but I think it sounds better than a straight through IMHO The TD5's when they're tuned sound great, just a shame they are too complicated :rolleyes:
