Evening All.

Just a little advice if possible on a 2004 100 defender that is advertised near to me. It is an ex southern electric truck with 152k miles with fsh. In fact there are 2 available one has 160k. Both have racking in the back and a few lockable lockers in both sides, winch, towbar and big roof rack. Bodywork has a few little dings but nothing major.

They are advertised at £5500 and I was wondering if you knowledgable lot think that this is a good price or whether it would be one to avoid. I'm thinking its a decent price as I have seen older examples advertised for much more.

Many thanks for any advice

Hi I have worked on a few of these vehicles , they are generally kept in a good state of service etc but as with all land rovers you should always inspect and test any future investment !! If unsure get an experienced mechanic to inspect it for you , it may save you a lot of money and pain !!!! Don't go on looks alone the expensive to fix bits are not always easily visible be prepared to go under and poke around !!

I just bought a 2001 one with 120k on the clock - It's at Frog Island 4x4 now getting a good seeing to.

Could you let me know how it gets on? Just in case anything in particular crops up that I need to look at on these one. Cheers

My only nugget of info on them is my dad works for them and his landy was permenantly overloaded and he used to drive it like he stole it so be aware it cud be a tad ragged lol that said he never once moaned it let him down.

Yeah I kind of assumed that being a works truck it would be thrashed a bit - like I do with any hire car :D

I was talking to the southern electric bloke about his td5 defender 2 years ago, and it was on its 3rd gearbox. Only 4 or 5 years old at the time too! I'd imagine they certainly do some work.
