Sorry but just to clarify, these are both Td4's right? The HSE will have more equipment I think - they were the highest trim level unless I'm mistaken .

Other than that I'd say it's down to service record, VCU and all that .

my first freelander was a y plate es td4 manual, now got a 04 hse td4 auto.
few more toys ie. harmon kardon speakers crap sub woofer imo. front fog lights, i think the leather on seats might be a better quality on the hse imo.
apart from that not much between them.

i had a 2001 td4 auto gs 173,000 now have a 2006 td4 auto hse at this moment 49,900and what a difference. first the seats are a lot firmer better sound and the woofer base is fantastic did not have leather seats in the old one but do like the heated leather seats the hse and i am sure they are higher,wheels are ok but i do prefer the old 16 inch one with goodyear wranglers on nearly new , the engine seems a bit quicker and was told the lr have updated it a bit, and the head lights are better than the old ones which i always thought were poor.
