Is the engine sump guard a structural item?
The tarts at the garage who tried to repair the blown head gasket have ground the head off a bolt that was stuck in the subframe, the bolt is still in the captive nut. so to give me time later on to sort it, can I leave it off for the MOT and while I am Road driving and sort it later?

Yes you can run without, but it does stop a lot of mess getting in all the nooks and crannies, and keeps leaves etc from getting near your belts

Excellent, I've got to do the head gasket and timing belt so I'll put it on after that.

Is the one you are on about at the back either side if so there is two so you can use the other one so you can use the other one .

I get what you mean, yes the bolts at the back of the sump guard. I will just put one bolt in for now and work on the remnants of the other bolt at a later date.
