Just finished rebuilding the engine on my '97 4.6. Connected the battery, jumped in and nothing other than a message on the dash saying "Engine disabled. Press remote or enter code".
The car does not respond to the fob any more and opening the drivers door sets off the alarm.

Have read a ton of posts on the forum but none that I saw report back as to what the fix was.

Any ideas?

Needs a resynch possibly ???

No idea what i did but it now works. Mind you the battery wasn't strong enough to turn the engine even though I charged it yesterday. Replacement battery methinks. Maybe the flat battery was the cause of my troubles.

low batterys can do untold sh*t to a Becm.

Replacement battery turned out to be an earth bond that I had missed during the rebuild. Connected that and jumped into life. Been sitting since April so glad she is back on the road.
