im going to be cahnging my engine soon but im thinking of putting a 4.6 in as i have a 4.0 at the moment. my questioin is are the looms and ecu's the same i would i need to change them to. thanks


Also im starting to hate my range rover.

Don't forget the gearboxes are different.

The Engine ecu has different programme for the 4.6

Thanks not gunna bother changing now thought thay were a straight swap. Plus a 4.0 seem to be cheaper to buy and not as prone to slipped liners

i have a good old 3.9 block in mine with 4.6 internals !

new shells rings cam and followers, running on a 4.0 ecu, runs very well on petrol and lpg


so whats the gearbox difference ????

i put a 4.6 block in my 4.0 with no problems still running on 4.0 ecu and 4.0 gear box..

Different models. Think they'll both fit the engine tho. The 4.0 box (hp22?) is lower rated powerwise.
