Well it pains me to do this, but I think it's time to get shut of my Rally Freelander. I've owned it for 3 years now and with work commitments etc, just have not been able to dedicate the time (and money) towards the project. It's just not practical to be an every day driver as it would have to be a compromise between racer and road car. I've spent more money than I can recall on it, or can really afford. I initially wanted to enter the Britpart Freelander Challenge which meant all the engine mods had to go and spent a fortune getting the engine put back to standard in compliance with the regs. Then work decides that I will end up working shifts that will interfere with racing so that's now out of the question. The missus is happy with this as it means we can afford to go on holiday instead of using the money to afford the racing fees !
Although it has recently passed it's MOT in December , it hasn't been driven for at least 10 months. The more I tried to justify keeping it, the more I can see reasons to sell. It still needs a little work which I could have done over a weekend but I've got no access to a garage and don't fancy being stuck outside in the cold and it's now got to the point of me being sick of looking at it knowing that so much money is tied up in it.

I haven't got that far yet. I've just posted my thoughts really. It owes me £thousands - far more than I could really afford- according to the other half. It's not going to be a cheap off roader (suspension alone cost £3k). It was built to race round forest and gravel tracks, it's not comfortable enough to be driven to Asda and a bit too over engineered for greenlaning.
If anyone is interested, I could post a full spec list, but I'll probably sell it via one of the racing forums like Piston Heads................

Bud that's a real shame to hear but you've got to do what you've got to do! What would you do with all the spare time if you sell it!! Its not just a freelander its a big part of your life what's next?

That's part of the problem, I just don't seem to get ANY spare time - let alone time to lavish on my Freelanders. So selling it won't free up any time but will free up funds I could really do with using elsewhere.

Know the feeling I raced for many years until finding the time to do enough meetings to get points became a problem I just do a bit of laning now and leave the kids to the motorsports! Lol
